The earlier Old School: an individual perspective from the social sciences
Earlier in havana Abdel Hernández San juan as individuality, individual theoretician and thinker founded and stablished alone his private school of advanced hard sciences studies, any person who visited him during that period know about that Abdel was developing both writings and talks in hard science including linguistic theory, semiótic theory, theoretical sociology and cultural theory, he at the same time starded to design his school with two sides A-puré theoretical (his Works as writer, writing papers) and B-the empiricals side and designed the empirical side as an experimental practice of research in fieldwork, this field work he conceived was adressed to research and study social groups understanted as cultural groups and was much more on the side of sociology methodologically than on the side of anthropology, however, as the idea social groups was designed to theorize culture understanding those groups as cultural groups cultural analysis played a major play to the point that cultural anthropology become constantly complimentary to sociology fieldwork becoming inclusive to it.
This fieldwork sociologically designed to the social external spacialities was mainly conceived by abdel Hernández San Juan from scientific social science parameters of methodology including participant observation but was higly diferentiated in two very diferent kinds urban (Metropolitan), and rural, considered from the self of the fieldworker the urban fieldwork included components of social psychology since in general research on external social groups was considered as ways of self research or self study of the fieldworker own culture as a self- sociology, it included
All social groups research was theoretically directed by Abdel Hernández san juan theorizations of both research methodology and cultural analysis as a six month urban fieldwork inmersión subdivided by microfieldworks according to choiced social groups and included
1- studies of young rockers and punks, this micro-fieldwork was nor only directed by Abdel but directly practiced by himself in various locations, rockers and punks places of meetings in the city, rockers and punks private house

The rural fieldwork adquiered another nature since it suposed dinamics of complexs convivals in the habitad of coast and montain farmers communities and as much social psychology was not considered since alterity and difference between urban metropolitans and rurales was remarkable this fieldwork yet regulated by sociology adquiered an ethnographyc nature.
However, beyond the diferentes between the two modalities of fieldwork two major elements unified or qualified the nature of the empirical side, in both cases Abdel theoretically and methodologically definided semiotic theory including urder it proxemic and cinésic studies as the main characteristic both during the spatiality inmersion in social groups (Urban) and in families and communities --family bohios, villages places to meet and religious temples ( rural), and during presentations results
Hence in both cases medias from the art such as photography and installations participated both during fieldwork inmersion and later in ways to present results, this provided both modalities with a unique terapéutic nature ( in termes of fieldwork methodology), as well as provoqued in Abdel pedagogical questions on how to teach the specializations needs of the profile of the optimus profesional to practice this modality of fieldwork as a sociologist but well prepared also in both art and anthropology, something inusual in sociology, art and anthropology teaching academic pensum, the design of this teaching specialty was named by Abdel the thesis of the maker well know in the eigthies.
Finally another similarity between both modalities was defined by the idea of projects, the urban modality was defined as a project titled HACER workshop (six months) and the rural one PILÓN project ( ten months)
